The Bulldogs mounted a brief comeback in the following inning, when trailing 4-1 lead off batter and CF Tyler Whitaker beat out an infield hit and was driven in by SS Cody Brown on the next at bat; Cody singling and advancing to second on the throw. Cody later scored when with two outs Chris Miller singled to cut the deficit to 4 to 3.
