The Bulldogs ended their Fort Bend Torunament run Saturday morning, as they
fell to the Cy Ridge Mustangs 11-3 on a blustery morning at Elkins.
For the second game in a row the Bulldogs offense was held in check, as Cy Ridge
pitcher Hornberger limited the bulldogs to just 5 hits over 5 innings. On the
other side of the ball the Bulldogs struggled in the chilly and windy conditions,
committing a season high 6 errors.
Trailing 3 to 0 in the bottom of the second inning, the Bulldogs got on the
board as C Chris Miller lead off with a double to right center field. The runner
was advance by 1B Sean Pringle and later scored on a sacrifice fly by P Jarrod
Boyle to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Bulldogs mounted a brief comeback in the following inning, when trailing
4-1 lead off batter and CF Tyler Whitaker beat out an infield hit and was driven
in by SS Cody Brown on the next at bat; Cody singling and advancing to second
on the throw. Cody later scored when with two outs Chris Miller singled to cut
the deficit to 4 to 3.
At that point the Mustangs took over, scoring an additional 7 runs while holding
the Bulldogs hitless over the last two innings to secure the victory.
